Småland Museum is the oldest county museum in Sweden. Permanent exhibitions with objects from different periods and temporary exhibitions with different emphases. There is also the Swedish Glass Museum and an archaeological unit. Småland Museum opened in its own building in 1885. In the permanent exhibitions, you can find everything from Neolithic objects, a silver treasure from the Viking Age, objects from the 19th and 20th century peasant and upper-class communities of Småland to the opera singer Christina Nilsson's emerald jewelry. Småland's Museum have extensive temporary exhibitions covering topics such as photography, visual arts, textiles and furniture.

The Swedish Glass Museum shows the magical world of glass from different periods. The archaeological unit carries out archaeological missions and conveys knowledge of Småland's history. The antiquarians give advice when restorations and renovations of historically and culturally valuable buildings are to be made.
