The Linné park is one of the parks in Växjö and it has beautiful flower gardens. It is situated in the middle of the city by the cathedral, opening out onto the lake. One of the buildings in the park is Karolinerhuset, which was finished in 1715 and housed Växjö's secondary school until 1850. One of its former students was the famous botanist Carl von Linné. The Linné park consists of 3 different parts; the formal part of the Church, the English garden with small pathways and spectacular trees and the new part with fields of grass, a playground and water. An important theme in the park is, of course, Carl von Linné. His system with 24 different classes for plants is represented by a plantation with common plants. There is also a cactus garden with a yearly theme, a street with flowers, gardens with perennials and bushes and also an outdoor stage. There is also a playground inspired by Linné.
